Call For Proposals

The 2023 Red Rock Arts Festival welcomes neighbors and wanderers to Moab, Utah for three days of storytelling, ceremony, and play. Centrally located in downtown Moab at the Moab Arts facility on 100 North, programming will highlight human history and dreams for the future through collaborative projects, art experiences, and free all-ages events.

 

We are seeking artists working in performance, installation, or social practice to submit proposals for projects to be performed or installed at Moab Arts for the Red Rock Arts Festival, September 29 - October 1, 2023. The theme for projects is Ceremonies for the Future. A ceremony is a celebratory formal occasion or ritual observance that can acknowledge anything from social to environmental to technological subjects. Family-friendly projects that center participation and community engagement are preferred.

 

Selected artists will be responsible for organizing, producing, and/or installing and uninstalling their work on-site in Moab, UT. Work must be installed no later than Thursday, September 28th and come down no later than Monday, October 2. If the project is a performance, the performance must occur during the three day festival window (September 29 - October 1). Two projects will be selected, with a max amount of $1000 awarded per project. Travel and lodging are not provided.

Please include the following information with your proposal:

 

Project proposal (500 words max) 

A rough sketch or mock-up of the project (8.5x11 or smaller)

Basic budget, including labor and materials

3-5 samples of past work (Acceptable sample formats include: 300 dpi JPEG/PNG images, PDFs, mp3s and mp4s. If providing audio/video samples, please limit combined length to ten minutes or less. Captions are welcome, limited to 100 words or less.)

 

Files shall be named as follows: LastName_ItemName for example Morgan_Proposal or Morgan_WorkSample1.
