Leather Workshop

Join Moab Arts and Salt Lake City based artist, Tina Stoy, for a leather workshop at the Moab Arts Center during Streetfest. There will be two leather workshops happening throughout the day, each with a unique project. Pre-registration is recommended to guarantee your place in the workshop, however, we will have limited space available for walk-ins.

1:00-2:30p.m. Catch-All Tray

The Catch All Trays are great for just about anything. Keep it by the door to catch coins, keys and small items, or have it by your bedside for jewelry or your phone. Participants will be able to assemble and decorate a tray to take home at the end of the workshop. In the basics of leatherworking workshop you will make a Coin Catcher Tray. Each participant has their own workspace and tools to create a custom leather tray from start to finish. Learn about leather, tanning processes, and the basic tools / techniques of leatherworking. Each step teaches a technique, building confidence and skills along the way.

Walk-ins will be accepted until 1:45 or until the maximum participant number has been reached.

4:00-5:30p.m Key Chain

In this basics of leatherworking workshop you will make a Fob Keychain. Each participant has their own workspace and tools to create a custom leather fob keychain from start to finish. Learn about leather, tanning processes, and the basic tools / techniques of leatherworking. Each step teaches a technique, building confidence and skills along the way.

Walk-ins will be accepted until 4:45 or until the maximum participant number has been reached.

Meet the Maker: Tina started working with leather in 2018. What began as a new creative outlet grew into a business, fueling a passion for life long learning and personal growth. This woman owned & operated business intentionally sources leather and hardware to create heirloom quality goods to

last a lifetime. Akasha Leather, based in Salt Lake City, hosts workshops year round, giving participants the opportunity to get hands-on experience working with leather. Whether working with groups of 2 or 300, participants walk away feeling the excitement of creating something truly unique.

BOTH SESSIONS: All materials will be provided, workshop will be held in the Stage Room. No prior experience needed to be successful. Registered participants will forfeit their place in the class if they arrive more than 30 minutes past the start time.
